Dr. Nancy Logue

Jill Shaffer, RD

Jill Shaffer, RD is a registered dietitian in private practice in Pennington, New Jersey, where she helps clients realize positive change with nutrition and related health goals. Jill specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults—both men and women—who have eating and weight-related problems including eating disorders. She offers both individual and family nutrition counseling and guidance in a supportive, non-judgmental and collaborative style.

Background and Experience

Prior to starting her private practice, Jill worked as an outpatient nutrition therapist at the Renfrew Center, an Eating Disorder facility specializing in treating patients with anorexia and bulimia. She is a certified EBT (Emotional Brain Training) provider for the Institute for Health Solutions; where she coaches individuals and facilitates groups for those who struggle with weight problems and emotional and compulsive eating issues.

She is also certified in Solutions Kids, a family-based weight and stress management EBT program for kids and their families, and is currently offering group and family coaching. Jill offers workshops and presentations at health and fitness centers and for groups and organizations on many nutrition-related topics. During the summer, she is the nutritionist for Camp Pennbrook, an all-girls’ weight management camp.

Approach and Philosophy

Jill is passionate about helping her clients let go of dysfunctional eating behaviors while supporting them in creating healthy eating patterns that optimize health and happiness. She helps her clients develop an individual plan which meets physical and emotional needs. Attaining a healthy relationship with food takes time and requires changes in thinking about eating, weight and body image. It requires being aware of feelings and taking better care of one’s true needs. It also involves taking some risk.

Jill offers her clients credible nutrition information, reasonable strategies to improve nutritional well-being, and stress reduction tools that result in sustainable changes and healthier belief systems. Preoccupation with food and weight begin to decrease when the body is adequately nourished. When people focus on health, while staying tuned in to hunger and satiety signals, and begin choosing and preparing healthy and satisfying food, then they truly begin to resolve food and eating issues.
